meaning

Drink the essence of the name of Rama, o tongue.
It will help you remove or be distant from association with sin and you will be fulfilled with many kinds and types of rewards/gains.
It will help you be far removed from the grief of the cycle of birth and death , it is the essence of all the religious treatises , the Vedas and sciences .
It protects all creation. Brahma was born of a lotus from a golden egg and then he created the whole universe. So this phrase implies that Rama nama protects the whole universe. It will purify even the most impious or heretic .
It is the pure song that paramahamsa (signature of poet) has taken refuge in, it is the same which has been drunk by sages like Shuka, Shaunaka and Kaushika.

Thank you S Kamakshi for the meaning of Pibare Rama Rasam by Sri Sada Shiva Brahmendraal.

Your meaning includes more than the meaning of the stanzas. To be exact;
1) "It will help you remove or be distant from association with sin and you will be fulfilled with many kinds and types of rewards/gains."
2)"It protects all creation. Brahma was born of a lotus from a golden egg and then he created the whole universe. So this phrase implies that Rama nama protects the whole universe. It will purify even the most impious or heretic."

There are more stanzas that were not mentioned above in the song that you have included meaning for. So I am posting the whole song lyrics so that readers will not be confused. (Specially the ones who can understand Sanskrit a bit). Also the first word in the last stanza must be "Suddha" means PURE even as per your translation.
Thank you.
With regards,
Jayashree

Thank you all for such a discssion about this kirtana. I usually look for lyrics in the following site.
http://www.karnatik.com/c2975.shtml

However when listening to Smt MS Subbalakshmi ji, she sang as "rAmsnAmarsam" in two places. I couldn't find that version of lyric.
May Rama bless the the world.
